2,000+ new .com.au domains added and some .net.au's removed

18/08/2008 - 4:02 pm | By Richard Green | Place Comment

Over 2,000 new .com.au domains for sale have just been imported. The list includes many generic names across a broad range of categories.

Here is a small sample of the names added:

  • cheapquote.com.au
  • lowratemortgages.com.au
  • partyboats.com.au
  • sydneyarchitect.com.au
  • plasmastvs.com.au
  • bulkbuying.com.au
  • personaldebt.com.au
  • smallloan.com.au
  • pesto.com.au

Over the weekend we also removed 2,000 or so of the lesser quality .net.au domains that many of you complained about when giving us feedback (seen here and over at Wade's au Domaining blog here and here).

Following on from this, we will soon may be moving all non .com.au domains to a seperate section on the website.

Update: Please note, we are still welcoming members to list .net.au domain names. The .net.au's removed were done so at the request of the owner.

And we welcome any feedback regarding the issue of .net.au domains, their pricing and how they should be listed on the Domain Trading Post website in the future.

Dear Richard,
I can't believe you removed all the .net.au domain because a few people said they are a waste of time. Talk about peer pressure, of course everyone wants the best extention, but quite often it is not available and .net.au can be developed into a good website. I have a lot of net.au domains and have found that they are on a par with hyphened com.au or .tv domains on search engines. People pay the extra cost for com.au domains, but if you don't have the money, the next best is net.au, I suppose you could class them as the poor mans alternative. Seems to be a lot of domainers are only into parking a domains, what ever happened to good old website development. Just my 2 cents worth

Don,

The names removed were a bunch of domains a client wanted removed they were generally of low quality EG 0t.net.au, 0a.net.au if you get the picture. We are of the opinon that quality is better than quantity.

Thanks for the comments Don.

As Rod pointed out, it was not because the names were .net.au's that they were removed, and we certainly don't want to discourgage members from listing their .net.au's.

Your views on .net.au's are similar to my own when it comes to SEO/Web Development.

However, all the names removed were the property of one owner who requested they be taken down, it just so happens these where the names people commented about.

Ok Rod & Richard, my mistake, I was of the opinion all .net.au domains were not being allowed to be listed from this latest news, so that is not the case, good. As you know I do have a large amount of geographical domains in com.au and net.au in some hard to get domains, I am concerned that .net.au are getting such bad press from forums and blogs in Australia. Most of it is from large holders of .com.au domains which can afford to be bias. We all know that .com.au domains are the best, but for goodness sake guys don't kill off .net.au market as it can be a good secondry market for those that can't afford the com.au prices.

Don,

Please let us make it quite clear we more than welcome .net.au's but let's make sure they have a bit of traffic potential you might like to note a new .net.au that was listed over the weekend garages.net.au and of course geographical domains ending in .net.au are very welcome.

Best regards Don

Hello Guys,

It would be great to see the better quality .net.au's moved to their own category. I'm a big supporter of .net.au's (and .org.au's for that matter) with regard to SEO.

As for .net.au's such as f45.net.au perhaps these would be best kept in a bulk area? I am interested in buying more .net.au's but I don't want to have to look at 300 low quality .net.au's to do so.

Hope this helps.
